Courtesy Lion

I can't recall if there is an official name for this courtesy lion which has been one of the many icons (or mascots) in Singapore for many years. I remember I used to try to draw this on paper. Schools gave out pins during the courtesy movement when I was still a school kid.

Don't know why, I still have very good feeling about this cute lion till now. Mmm..so now he has a new piece of clothing on him when I saw him at the National Library yesterday.

Popiah for dinner

It's popiah for dinner last night. Been craving for this since long long time ago. And told cousin Bessie we shall arrange for a lunch or something then all of us can go together. But the crave came as suddenly yesterday late afternoon and since all at home (dad and hubby) were not tired, we made a last minute decision to 'chiong' there in cab. Sorry Bessie, let's do one together again. Will still want to go back there again!

This is the Good Fortune Popiah. Used to be somewhere Chinatown, then moved to Far East Square (or was it China Square) and finally shifted to Silat Road (Jalan Bukit Merah) some years back. This was my second time here since their move to Silat Road.

Yummy Yummy, the most delicious ingredient is the chilli, which is very nice and spicy. But now, the sweet sauce is in a small bottle, instead of the little saucer bowl. That's one slight change.

Trying to wrap the first popiah. Hahahaha....

Proud of outcome.

Enjoying the 'fruit of labour'. Anyway, it's meant for our own mouths, so nice or not nice, it's another matter. :) But the taste's good.

Dad had to end up using chopsticks and spoon to eat, cos the popiah was torn. Heehee... Like I said, however you eat it, it still taste the same.

We also ordered the fish maw soup.

Full table, without the side dishes yet!

Enjoying the fish maw. Actually the soup was nice, but after taking a bowl of it, it makes one feels bloated already.

Ordered fried rice also. I tried the fried rice for the first time. It's nice. Used to order the Hokkien noodle - a little tired of it already so decided to finally change.

Prawn roll (or 'hay zho'). To me, it's not really fantastic. The taste of 'ngor hiang' (spices) is too much for my taste bud.

I had 4 rolls of popiah and my wrapping skill wasn't bad at all. All 4 rolls turned out nicely. Didn't spoil any one of them. Proud, proud, proud.

One of the nicer one for him though. :p
Was a very fulfilling and full dinner. After it, my tummy was full of popiah and my mouth tasted of chilli and garlic. Heehee.....Burp!
Bessie, another round!

Teabag, the dog

He's Teabag. He's someone's pet dog from another block. Saw him this morning and I got very excited. He is staying at another place (apparently a private house, as HDB does not allow big dogs), because of some people who complain about his existence in the HDB flat. So now, he comes only once in a while.

He used to be very playful and loved to bully his maid. That's what the maid told us. But today, she told us Teabag is a good boy now. Not as playful and naughty as previously. I guess he is about a year old, cos some months back when we first saw him, he was 8 months old.

He is really cute. I love to pat on his head. Thank goodness, he wasn't in a very very excitable mood, else he would have fussed over you and try to lick you all over. Hahahaha....

I love golden retriever, anyway, though am still very wary of big dogs. I think Teabag is the first big dog I have ever tried to touch. :)

Doesn't this look like the position of roasted pig. Heehee...

Bottle for him to bite and play with, to distract him from trying to bite other things, eg cigarette box.

My Cruise (17 - 19 Apr 2009)

Still feeling stressed while on way to Harbourfront. But once I got off the cab and saw my ship in the near distance, my mood gradually changed for the better. I am getting nearer to my cruise holiday!!

After checking in and boarding, the path was lined with welcoming notes and icons and mascots.

Here's one....

Another one...this one really brightened me up with the colours!

Our windowless room. Disappointed when I knew the windows and portholes rooms were all not available. That's the best I could get if I really wanted to get on board. Not too bad lah.

Our first meal after boarding. It's dinner at the chinese restaurant, Pavillion. That was the first thing we did after settling down in our cabin - GO FOR DINNER!

A walk around the ship after dinner. The sea never fails to awe me. Ahhhh....I am sailing...

Seemed to be quite empty so why wait - just snap away. If it seemed so uncrowded, how come I can't book can't have my room with a view??? Why Why Why??

What a sunset. Really nice view and relaxing. Star Virgo now has a water slide! See that?

Next morning. We got into the Star Galaxy, for early birds (when all other restaurants aren't open for breakfast yet). Got a muffin, coffee and it's enjoying the sunrise time! Muffin sucks though. But we were going for a real breakfast later.

Aint' this nice???

We were still early for breakfast. Have a little fun with the equipment first. I chose the keyboard.

Funny wor, this guy!

Too shiok not to lie down. Wish I have a room with this view.

????

Still waiting for breakfast! Opened at 8am. So just laze around at the poolside first.

Finally the Mediterranean Restaurant was opened for the day.

That's lunch. Not too bad. There is a little teochew porridge buffet. Mmmm...nice porridge.

After lunch walk (and relax)

Fun time! $25 worth of arcade games!

Afternoon teabreak (used to miss teabreaks on my previous cruise. Got to make it up) The cookies' great.

Dinner! Barbecue buffet. I forgot to snap the poolside buffet spread!!

Nice papadum (even without that 'curry')

Breakfast on our third day. Dim sum at Pavillion. The lotus paste buns were very nice. Too bad I was very full and managed to eat only one, leaving the last one behind! Should've just tabao-ed it out.

Enjoying the outdoor sky again. See the sun rays?

Can spot the sun? If not, maybe need to enlarge the pic.

This was what he enjoyed most. :)
